Bullying Policy
We believe that all students have a right to a safe and healthy environment.
We have a no tolerance policy regarding behavior that infringes on the safety or security of any Dancer. A dancer shall not intimidate, harass, or bully another dancer through words or actions.
Dancers and/or staff to immediately report incidents of bullying to the Studio Director. Staff who witness such acts take immediate steps to intervene when safe to do so.
Dancers who bully are in violation of this policy.
The Code of Conduct includes, but is not limited to:
Dancers are expected to immediately report incidents of bullying to the Studio Director.
Dancers can rely on staff to promptly investigate each complaint of bullying in a thorough and confidential manner.
The procedures for intervening in bullying behavior include, but are not limited, to the following:
All staff, Dancers and their parents will receive a summary of this policy prohibiting intimidation and bullying: at the beginning of the year.
Staff will make reasonable efforts to keep a report of bullying and the results of investigation confidential.
Staff who witness acts of bullying shall take immediate steps to intervene when safe to do so. People witnessing or experiencing bullying are strongly encouraged to report the incident; such reporting will not reflect on the target or witnesses in any way.
Types of Bullying
There are four types of bullying:
Social bullying, sometimes referred to as relational bullying, involves hurting someone’s reputation or relationships. Social bullying includes:
Leaving someone out on purpose
Telling other children not to be friends with someone
Spreading rumors about someone
Embarrassing someone in public
Verbal bullying is saying or writing mean things. Verbal bullying includes:
Teasing
Name-calling
Inappropriate comments
Taunting
Threatening to cause harm
Physical bullying involves hurting a person’s body or possessions. Physical bullying includes:
Hitting/kicking/pinching
Spitting
Tripping/pushing
Taking or breaking someone’s things
Making mean or rude hand gestures
Cyberbullying is verbally threatening or harassing behavior conducted through such electronic technology as cell phones, email, social media, or text messaging.
